EUROSTAT: Croatia Took Third Place in 2012. by Increasing Number of Passengers in Air Transport

This year Croatia took third place by increasing number of passengers in air transport.
Eurostat has released figures showing that last year in (than) 27 EU member states aircrafts carried 827 million passengers, an increase of 0.7 percent and 10 percent compared to 2010 and 2009 respectively. The year of 2009 witnessed an increase of air passengers by 3.6% above the pre-crisis peak level from 2008.
The largest increase in the number of passengers this year had Lithuania (17.6 percent) and Estonia (15.5 percent) followed by Croatia with an increase of 8.7 percent . The biggest drop down was recorded in Slovenia (14.1 percent) and Slovakia (13.5 percent) .
The highest numbers of air passengers last year were recorded in the UK (203 million), Germany (179 million) and Spain (160 million). According to this statistics, in Croatia, there were 5.4 million air passengers last year.
The busiest airport last year was London Heathrow, with 70 million passengers, followed by Charles de Gaulle in Paris with 61 million and the Frankfurt Airport with 57 million. Zagreb's Airport Pleso was found at 103th place with 2.3 million passengers.
