Polish province opens office in China's Chengdu

The Lodzkie province in central Poland will have its representative office in the Chinese western city of Chengdu, province councilors announced on Monday.
The office is aimed to help boost economic ties with China and promote the Polish province in the country, they said.
"We are particularly keen on creating a positive environment for companies from Lodz (capital of the province) on the Chinese market and we would like to foster relations and cooperation between Lodz and Chinese companies," province head Witold Stepien stressed.
The office, which will be opened in late March, is to seek Chinese investors for the Lodz Special Economic Zone and Lodz Science and Technology Park. It is also to promote Lodz universities among Chinese students.
A regular cargo train connection between Lodz and Chengdu was opened in April last year. The train covers the 10,000-kilometre route in less than 14 days, compared to up to 45 days by sea.
Chengdu has 14 million inhabitants and is an important center of international companies operating in China. The Chinese government sees Chengdu as a logistics, trade, finance, science and technology center of western China.
