Croatia, Slovenia to cooperate on joint registration of traditional products

Croatian Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina and his visiting Slovenian counterpart Dejan Zidan on Tuesday agreed to cooperate in registration of traditional products at the European Union (EU) level.
At a joint news conference after their meeting in Varazdin, a northern city of Croatia, Jakovina said the producers from the two countries could agree on joint products under common name that have left a mark on the entire region, local media reported.
Zidan said that agricultural producers from Slovenia and Croatia would meet in two weeks to define how to jointly register their products.
The ministers expressed their supports to the initiative, saying their services would provide producers with technical support.
There was already a list of products that await registration at the EU level as products with a protected designation of origin, Jakovina said.
