Slovenian leaders vow to strive for sustainable economic growth

The Slovenian coalition government headed by Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek pledged here on Friday to strive for a sustainable economic recovery during its term.
In their latest agreement for 2014-2015, Bratusek of the ruling Positive Slovenia and leaders of other three parties -- Social Democrats, Citizens' List, and Pensioners' Party, vowed to promote economic growth and social welfare.
The agreement set the priority on industrial development and the creation of new jobs with the mid-term goal being 60,000 new jobs and three percent annual economic growth.
The four coalition partners pledged to keep current pensions and pension allowances, and neither interfere in the minimum wage, nor to raise or introduce new taxes or other levies unless a new agreement is reached with social partners.
Bratusek said that positive changes have been made in the country since her cabinet was sworn in March 2013.
"Slovenia has become a better country and its foundations are healthier," she noted.
The next general election is due to be held in the autumn of 2015.
