The ruling Progressive Party of Serbia (SNS) looks forward to deepening cooperation with the Communist Party of China (CPC), Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said ahead of a key CPC congress.

The CPC, which opens its 19th national congress on Oct. 18 in Beijing, is a natural ally of the SNS, said Vucic, who is also chief of the SNS.

The two parties need to "deepen our cooperation, as we need to learn more from our Chinese friends," Vucic said.

Serbia has a comprehensive strategic partnership with China.

Saying his party would like to have more frequent and different types of meetings with the CPC, Vucic said he was ready to learn about the way the CPC implements its own conclusions.

"It's something we have to admire," he said.

"We will do our best to strengthen our ties and learn ... from the Chinese example," Vucic said, adding that some of the CPC's achievements could be repeated in Serbia.

Calling the CPC a strong party with "good plans and programs for the people," he also commented on its readiness "to heed criticism and purify itself," and commitment to delivering the best results to the country.

The SNS, he said, will do its best to boost cooperation.
