The annual meeting of the Slovenia–China Business Council was held in Ljubljana on January 12, 2026, with high-ranking officials, over 60 political and business members and guests, as well as representatives from the Chinese Embassy in attendance.

The high-standard gathering won favorable feedbacks from all participants. H.E. Mr. Marko Lotrič, President of the National Council, H.E. Ms. Meira Hot, Vice President of the National Assembly, H.E. Mr. Klemen Boštjančič, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Matevž Frangež, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, shared their pleasant experiences in their China visits, and exchanged observations on China's social and economic development, as well as their views on Slovenia-China cooperation in economic and trade. There was broad consensus that Slovenia should continue to uphold a pragmatic and open stance and further advance cooperation with China in trade, investment and industrial sectors.
H.E. Ms. KANG Yan, newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia, sent a congratulatory message to the meeting. She highly commended the contribution of the Slovenia-China Business Council in promoting bilateral trade and investment. She also stressed her commitment to further advance pragmatic cooperation in various fields, hand in hand with Slovenian friends.

A young diplomat from the embassy was interviewed on site, sharing the perspectives of Chinese youth on career choices, the 15th five-year-plan, as well as bilateral relations.
