The 154.7 MW Cotofenii PV Power Station, developed by Huadian Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation Ltd., has officially broken ground in Cotofenii, Dolj County, Romania. As China Huadian’s first greenfield PV power station invested in Europe, the project adopts advanced technologies including high-efficiency bifacial PV modules, integrated inverter-booster units and horizontal single-axis tracking brackets. It is also equipped with a step-up substation and transmission lines to realize efficient conversion of clean energy and grid-connected delivery. The project will effectively drive the Go Global of China’s PV equipment and engineering technical services, and support international cooperation across the new energy industrial chain.
The project is scheduled to commence operation in the first quarter of 2028. Upon completion, it will deliver approximately 240 million kWh of clean energy annually, significantly boosting the power supply capacity of the southern Romanian grid and supporting local energy structure transformation and the delivery of renewable energy development targets. The project marks a strategic breakthrough for China Huadian in greenfield development in the European new energy market. It carries important demonstration value for deepening energy exchanges and cooperation between China and Romania, and contributes Huadian’s efforts to high-quality energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the building of a high-level global clean energy partnership.
