Li Keqiang and Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta Jointly Meet the Press

On the afternoon of Nov. 25 local time, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council and Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta jointly met the press after their talks.
Li Keqiang introduced the fruits of talks between prime ministers of the two countries. He said that Romania is the first Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) country he visited since he took office as Chinese Premier, and his visit aims to increase political mutual trust, to consolidate the traditional friendship, and more importantly, to promote pragmatic cooperation.
Li Keqiang said that China and Romania have enjoyed good development of comprehensive, friendly and cooperative partnership. Focusing on the future, China-Romania relations need to achieve new development at three levels. First, respecting each other, and treating each other on an equal footing, and turning the bilateral traditional friendship into new momentum for deepening pragmatic cooperation. Second, mutual benefits, win-win results, and common development. The two economies are highly complementary, and we need to give play to the advantage of China's equipment, and to strengthen cooperation in railways, electric power, and other fields. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Romania in agriculture, animal husbandry, and other fields, and import marketable quality products. Third, promoting the development of China-CEE and China-EU relations. The recently held 16th China-EU Summit issued China-EU 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation, drawing up a new blueprint for China-EU cooperation. China-Romania cooperation is an important part of China-CEE and China-EU cooperation, and can absolutely play a demonstration role.
Li Keqiang said that there is a saying in Romania that "friendship is like wine, the longer the wine is brewed, the more fragrant it is, and the longer the relationship goes, the deeper it grows". China is willing to work with Romania to open up a new situation of bilateral friendly cooperation, letting China-Romania friendship enjoy great popularity and enduring fragrance.
Victor Ponta said that for more than 64 years since the establishment of Romania-China diplomatic ties, the bilateral relationship has had good development all along, and bilateral cooperation has a huge potential. Premier Li Keqiang's historic visit to Romania has achieved fruitful results. Romania is willing to expand friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with China, to actively consider applying China's technology to the construction of high-speed rail in Romania. China expanding cooperation with CEE countries is of great importance to both sides and to EU-China relations. Romania is willing to become China's sincere partner in Central and Eastern Europe and the EU, give play to the demonstration role of successful bilateral cooperation, and promote cooperation between Central and Eastern European countries and China, as well as the EU-China relations, to achieve more fruits.
The two prime ministers also answered questions on China-Romania relations, China-CEE cooperation, and other issues.
