Premier Li Keqiang Meets with President Crin Antonescu of the Senate and President Valeriu Zgonea of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania

On the afternoon of 27 November 2013, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met at the Romanian Parliament respectively with President Crin Antonescu of the Senate and President Valeriu Zgonea of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.
When meeting with Antonescu, Li Keqiang said that despite the distance keeping the two countries apart, China and Romania enjoy profound traditional friendship and they have always treated each other as equals with friendly coexistence between both peoples. This is the most precious treasure between the two countries and has become an important foundation for the unceasing development of China-Romania relations and cooperation. During my current visit to Romania, the two countries have yielded quite a number of important outcomes on cooperation in the fields of infrastructure construction, energy and agriculture. It will bring tangible benefits to both peoples. The all-dimensional cooperation is not only reflected in the governmental, political and other aspects, but also in the exchanges between the two parliaments. Hope the MPs of the two countries, especially young MPs, will strengthen exchanges of visits and enhance mutual understanding so as to play a positive role in promoting the development of China-Romania relations and to pass on the China-Romania friendship.
When meeting with Zgonea, Li Keqiang said that China and Romania enjoy sound parliamentary relations with various forms of exchanges between special committees of the two sides. Hope the MPs of the two countries will leverage the advantages of broad representation and extensive contact to further promote local and non-governmental exchanges and to guide the public opinion to support development of bilateral relations. China is ready to work with Romania to ensure the success of the activities in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship next year in order to create sound atmosphere for the development of China-Romania relations, to send out the message that China-Romania relationship has grown even more vigorous as time goes by and that the two peoples have mutual affinity for each other, and to push for new development of China-Romania comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership.
Antonescu and Zgonea expressed that Premier Li Keqiang visiting Romania and attending CEEC-China Summit is of historic significance and is an important milestone in bilateral relations. China is the best friend of Romania in Asia, while Romania is the best friend of China within the EU. Being friendly to China is a priority for Romania's foreign relations. Romania is ready to work with China to effectively implement the outcomes of this visit and of the Summit, to expand friendly mutually beneficial cooperation and to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to carry on the traditional friendship and to uplift bilateral relations to a higher level. The Romanian Parliament is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the NPC and the CPPCC of China in order to make positive contributions to the development of the cause of Romania-China friendship.
