Li Keqiang Arrives in Belgrade to Attend Meeting of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries and Pay an Official Visit to Serbia

In the evening of December 15 local time, upon the invitation of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic the Republic of Serbia, Premier Li Keqiang arrived at Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade by special plane to attend the third meeting of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) and to pay an official visit to Serbia. 

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, together with two Deputy Prime Ministers and several Ministers, came to the airport to greet Li Keqiang. A Serbian young lady, in accordance with the traditional rituals of welcoming distinguished guests, offered Li Keqiang bread and salt, and asked him to have a taste. Subsequently, the Premier and Prime Minister had a warm meeting.

  

Li Keqiang said the long-lasting friendship between China and Serbia originated from their consistent mutual support for each other on issues of core interests and major concern, ever-expanding cooperation of mutual benefits and ever-deepening exchanges and mutual learning. The holding of the meeting of Heads of Government of China and the CEEC in Belgrade embodies the important role that China-Serbia cooperation has played in the overall cooperation between China and the CEEC. He voiced the belief that his visit and meeting will help fortify bilateral relations, enhance China-CEEC cooperation, and enrich the connotation of China-EU relations.

 

Vucic, on behalf of Serbian government and people, gave Li Keqiang a warm welcome. He said that Serbia and China embrace traditional friendship and he believes that Li Keqiang's visit will vigorously boost the development of the Serbia-China relations and lift the cooperation between the CEEC and China to a higher level.

 

H. E. Li Manchang, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, also greeted Li Keqiang at the airport.

 

During the meeting, Li Keqiang will discuss with the leaders of CEEC about creating new highlights and an upgraded version of their cooperation. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the fourth China-CEEC Business Forum, and meet with the participating state leaders respectively.

 

During his visit, Li Keqiang will meet with President Tomislav Nikolic of Serbia. He will also hold a talk with Prime Minister Vucic, and together they will attend a ceremony marking the completion of the bridge across River Danube in Belgrade. He will also exchange views and interact with Serbian people of all circles.

 

Li Keqiang came to Belgrade after his successful official visit to Kazakhstan, the holding of the second regular meeting between the Chinese Premier and Kazak Prime Minister, and the attendance of the 13th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States. When he was leaving Astana, Kazak First Deputy Prime Minister and other senior government officials, and H. E. Zhang Hanhui, Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan, went to the airport to see him off.
