Hungary received more protective equipment purchased from China to fight against the novel coronavirus, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday.

"A total of two trucks and one aircraft delivered over 3 million face masks, 2 million gloves and 164 ventilators to Hungary in the recent hours," Szijjarto said on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

"Chinese equipment comes by air, but the trucks were needed because a part of our shipments from China arrived via airports in neighbouring countries, and those shipments were brought to Budapest by road," the minister added.

These equipments will be sent to hospitals and clinics to serve health protection plan in the coming weeks and months, he concluded.

According to official figures, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Hungary stood at 2,168 on Wednesday, with 295 recoveries and 225 fatalities.
