Chinese embassy in Serbia marks PLA’s 92nd anniversary

On July 29, the Chinese embassy in Serbia held the China’s Army Day’s reception to celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).


Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo, Defense Attaché Wu Yongjie and diplomats attended the ceremony. Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin and other government and military officials, including Serbian Chief of General Staff Lt. General Milan Mojsilobic, ambassadors and defense attaches in Serbia, and over 300 Chinese compatriots and representatives of Chinese enterprises, attended the event. Vulin conveyed Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s message to Chen Bo and Wu Yongjie congratulating PLA’s Army Day.


Wu delivered a speech looking back at PLA’s glorious history and great contributions to maintain world peace over the past 92 years. He said that “building a community of a shared future for mankind” and “Belt and Road Initiative” are welcomed in many countries worldwide, including Serbia, and China is willing to continue developing close cooperation with all countries.


Wu said that PLA is undertaking reforms in an all-round way and is committed to serve as the corner stone of safeguarding national security, realizing China’s peaceful development, as well as keeping world peace. Serbia is an important comprehensive strategic partner of China. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Serbia President Vucic have maintained frequent exchanges and set the tone for advancing the strategic partnership. Vulin and Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe have met three times since July 2018, and reached broad consensus on deepening military cooperation to promote the traditional friendly relationship between the two armed forces to a new stage.


The reception was held in a warmly and friendly atmosphere. Guests congratulated the 92nd anniversary of the founding of PLA, praised the achievements of China’s armed forces, and China’s unremitting endeavor and contributions on maintaining world peace.
