Instruction of application for Research Fund for relationships between China and Central and Eastern Europe 2014

Research Fund for relationships between China and Central and Eastern Europe is set up for supporting research programs by experts, scholars and Think Tanks in China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries, to encourage cooperation and academic exchanges. The Secretariat for cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries is responsible for managing the fund.

Individuals and institutions from China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries (Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungaria, Czech, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Albania and Macedonia) may apply for sponsoring from the Research Fund.

I. Funded projects during 2014

i. Seminars

One seminar held by Chinese institutions and academies with self-selected topics with 10-16 persons for 7-10 days. Upper limit funding is 300,000 RMB.

ii. Research project by Chinese scholars

Four to five research projects conducted by Chinese experts and scholars, with topics of fundamental conditions of CEE countries, the potential for cooperation between China and CEE countries in the fields of education, technology, culture, sports, tourism and health. Upper limit funding for each project is 100,000 RMB.

iii. Joint research project by Chinese and foreign scholars

Three to four joint research projects conducted by Chinese scholars or institutions with their CEE academic partners, with topics on cooperation opportunities between China and CEE countries in the fields of economy, trade, investment, urbanization, modern agriculture. Joint application should be given by both Chinese and foreign applicants. Upper limit funding for each project is 200,000 RMB.

iv. Participating in international academic conferences

Two opportunities for experts and scholars (at least 2 persons each time) from Chinese research institutions to participate in international academic conferences held in Central and Eastern European countries. Upper limit funding for each visit is 200,000 RMB.

II. Applying for funding

i. Applicants should submit materials for specific project according to this instruction to the Secretariat (with budget table for the project). Chinese applicants should submit materials directly to the Secretariat. Foreign applicants should submit materials through Chinese embassies.

ii. Because of limited budget of the Fund, under the same conditions, the Secretariat will give priority to projects with its own money supply.

iii. The deadline for submitting applications is 15th NOV 2013. The secretariat will evaluate applications and give feedback results to the applicants in time.
