Goran Jovetic, national coordinator of Montenegro and advisor to the deputy prime minister, arrived in Beijing on Saturday (May 10) to attend the third Meeting of National Coordinators for China-Central and Eastern Europe Cooperation, on the invitation of Wang Chao, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of China-Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Cooperation Secretariat.
In an interview with China Radio International, Goran Jovetic said that Montenegro is actively implementing the outcomes from the Meeting of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries in Bucharest, Romania, in 2013.
The cooperation between China and Montenegro has been successful in every field under the guideline for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, said Jovetic.
"This year's meeting will review the implementation of the consensuses reached at the Meeting of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries in Bucharest last year. And to be frank, the leadership in Montenegro has been consistent in implementing the outcomes. Montenegro has been a beneficiary of the cooperation mechanism. We have not only received substantial loans in preferential terms, but have also made great headways for cooperation with China on other fields," Jovetic revealed in the interview.
He noted that Montenegro and China have great scope for cooperation on transportation infrastructure and hydropower, with current and upcoming projects mainly focusing on these sectors.
"China and Montenegro have inked deals on expressways. The projects will be started once the preferential loans have been allocated. Also, Chinese enterprises have participated in the bidding for the Pljevlja thermal power station project. They have also shown interests in our rail projects."
