Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday sent a message to incumbent Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to extend congratulations to him on his victory in Serbia's presidential election.

Noting that China and Serbia enjoy profound traditional friendship, Li said in the congratulatory message that cooperation between China and Serbia in various fields has undergone in-depth development since the two nations set up comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, which has brought about tangible benefits to both the Chinese and Serbian peoples.

Li stressed that China highly values the development of China-Serbia relations, hoping that the traditional friendship between the two countries could be further strengthened and mutually beneficial cooperation could be deepened.

Li said he believes that the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership will continue to grow to higher levels with joint efforts from both sides.

Vucic declared victory on April 2 in the country's presidential elections with over 55 percent of the vote.
