On January 15, 2026, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Croatia Qi Qianjin met with Mayor of Zagreb Tomislav Tomašević.

Ambassador Qi spoke positively of Mayor Tomašević’s recent visit to Shanghai, China, leading a delegation from the City of Zagreb. He noted that the visit had generated strong momentum in Croatia for closer cooperation with China. Ambassador Qi stated that China stands ready to further deepen exchanges with Zagreb and promote more tangible outcomes in areas such as science and technology as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Mayor Tomašević shared his impressions from the visit to Shanghai, remarking that China’s remarkable achievements in economic and social development were deeply impressive. He expressed Zagreb’s willingness to continue strengthening cooperation with China.
