On August 6, 2026, Ambassador Dai Qingli paid a courtesy call on Ms. Mihaela Dotsova, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, to exchange views on bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary exchanges between the two countries. Mr. Gechev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group “Bulgaria-China”, and other officials attended the meeting.

Ambassador Dai Qingli conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes to Speaker Dotsova on behalf of Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee. She noted that China and Bulgaria share a time-honored traditional friendship. The Chinese side looks forward to working with the new National Assembly of Bulgaria to advance friendly exchanges between the two legislative bodies, deepen the sharing of experience in governance, and inject fresh vitality into bilateral relations and cooperation across various fields.

Speaker Dotsova asked Ambassador Dai to convey her deep gratitude and sincere greetings to Chairman Zhao Leji. She spoke highly of the growth of the Bulgaria-China strategic partnership. She stated that the Bulgarian National Assembly will continue to firmly uphold the one-China principle, strengthen mutual learning with China’s legislative body, and make positive contributions to further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and expanding cultural, educational and other people-to-people exchanges.
