Croatia Will Use 66 Milion Euros From ''Youth Guarantee'' in Next Two Years

Among the leaders who gathered in Paris on November 11th for 2nd Conference on Youth Employment, Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic appear there like ''inglorious bronze'', representative of the country that after Spain and Greece has the highest unemployment rate among young people, namely.
According to the Eurostat's last reports, in Croatia, there was 76,000 unemployed young people under the age of 25 in September. Rate of youth unemployment in Croatia is 52,8% while in Greece and Spain is around 57%. Across EU member countries, the average unemployment rate is 23,5%.
A total 23 heads of state and government responded to invitation from French President Francoise Holland to continue with this conference after the first was held in Berlin this July.
Before the conference, which was ongoing at the time when this story went to press, Croatian Prime Minister gave no statement. At part of the conference for ministers, which was held in the morning, Croatian Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Mirando Mrsic announced that his Ministry will try to cut this high percentage trough the EU program called ''Youth Guarantee''.
Croatia from this program can get 37 million euros in 2014 and 29 milion euros in 2015. The main purpose of ''Youth Guarantee'' is to give jobs to the unemployed young citizens, give them opportunities for education or internship within four moths of completing their education or entry into the labor market. The major challenge will be how to spend the money in the most efficient way and avoid possibility that young people will perceive this program as a lump sum without any chance for getting a job after, according to Mrsic.
