Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis of Latvia

    On the afternoon of November 27, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis of Latvia at the hotel where he stayed in Budapest.

  Li Keqiang said that Latvia is a good partner of China in the Central and Eastern Europe. Appreciating Latvia's positive role in advancing the "16+1 cooperation", China is willing to enhance the integration between the Belt and Road Initiative and Latvia's development strategies, and participate in the country's infrastructure construction including ports, so as to revitalize this maritime passage and boost cooperation between China and the Baltic States, as well as between China and the Northern European countries. China also stands ready to conduct trilateral cooperation with Latvia.

  Li Keqiang pointed out that China-Latvia people-to-people and cultural exchanges enjoy a sound foundation and positive results. It is hoped that the two sides can continue providing convenience for personnel exchanges and intensifying cooperation in such fields as education, scientific research and sinology, in a bid to constantly open up new situations for bilateral relations and cooperation.

  Maris Kucinskis expressed that in recent years, Latvia-China relations have achieved constant progress. The two countries have carried out sound cooperation in logistics and transport, and actively conducted trilateral cooperation. There are many more ambitious projects for the two sides to cooperate on in the future. The country stands ready to give play to its location advantage to conduct logistics and freight cooperation with China, with an aim to become an important regional gateway for China's exports of goods. Latvia is willing to, together with China, jointly carry out trilateral cooperation and expand new cooperation fields in education, scientific research and others.
