The Chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu announced on Friday that ministries of Interior, Finances, Health, and Economy, all controlled by Liberals will have soon new heads.
"Following the resignations of our colleagues Daniel Chitoiu, Radu Stroe, Eugen Nicolaescu and Andrei Gerea, PNL's National Political Bureau has debated the proposals made, and voted the following nominations of PNL for this positions within the Government: Klaus Iohannis at the Interior Ministry and Deputy Prime Minister; Eugen Nicolaescu at the Finance Ministry; Teodor Atanasiu at the Economy Ministry; and Cristian Busoi at the Health Ministry," Antonescu said.
According to him, the proposed Liberal ministers have been communicated to Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Antonescu told a press conference, adding that Ponta took note of the proposals and "raised no objections."
Ministries of Interior and Finances remain without heads, after Interior Minister Radu Stroe submitted his resignation on Jan. 23 for alleged deficiencies in an aviation accident rescue operation, and Finance Minister Daniel Chitoiu decided late Thursday to quit the cabinet to focus his effort on helping his party in a key election year.
Eugen Nicolaescu resigned as the health minister on Friday, so as to serve as finance minister, while Economy Minister Andrei Gerea ended his mandate on Friday, according to the requirements of his party.
