The groundbreaking ceremony for the Budva Bypass Road Project in Montenegro, undertaken by Shandong Hi-Speed Group as a consortium member, took place on October 5 local time.

Montenegro is advancing the development of its expressway and highway network to boost transport connectivity. The Budva Bypass Road is a key component of Montenegro’s new round of transport infrastructure investment plan. Upon completion, the project will help create local jobs, improve residents’ quality of life and facilitate travel for tourists, serving as a major pillar for Montenegro’s tourism and economic growth.

Located on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, Budva is a renowned tourist destination plagued by heavy traffic congestion during peak travel seasons. Stretching approximately 8 kilometers, the new bypass will divert through traffic, ease gridlock in downtown Budva and upgrade transport links for the broader coastal region.

The project is delivered by an international consortium of five enterprises from Montenegro, China and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Shandong Hi-Speed Group as one of the consortium members. The scope of work includes roads, bridges, tunnels and related structures. Valued at roughly 237 million euros, the project is scheduled to be completed within a 4-year construction period.

In recent years, Shandong Hi-Speed Group has maintained a strong presence in Montenegro’s market. It has delivered landmark works including the reconstruction and expansion of Montenegro’s M2 Highway and urban water supply system, as well as the Tara River Bridge restoration project. The group has earned wide recognition from local stakeholders thanks to reliable workmanship and efficient project delivery.
