Li Keqiang Holds Talks with Prime Minister of Serbia, Stressing Deepening of Mutually Beneficial Cooperation to Realize Common Development and Promotion of China-Serbia Strategic Partnership to a New Level

In the afternoon of December 17 local time, Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia in Belgrade.

 

Li Keqiang said that China and Serbia boast traditional friendship and enjoy political mutual trust, economic win-win cooperation, and cultural exchanges and learning from each other. Friendship, mutual trust and cooperation have become the main theme of China-Serbia relations. Chinaattaches great importance to the development of the relationship with Serbia, and is willing to work with Serbia to keep supporting each other's core interests and major concerns firmly and further deepen practical cooperation, so as to realize common development and promote the China-Serbia strategic partnership to a new level.

 

Li Keqiang expressed his hope that both sides should strengthen cooperation in the construction of infrastructure such as transport and energy, keep doing researches on promoting cooperation in major projects such as economic industrial parks, expressways, ports and power stations, and promote the launching of the Hungary-Serbia Railway construction as soon as possible. China and Serbia should expand information exchanges and project connection between enterprises and financial institutions of the two countries, discuss new models of cooperation, and open up new channels of financing. Both sides should expand cooperation in the trade of agricultural products and in the collaboration of agricultural researches, and establish a network at an early date for promoting agricultural scientific and technological cooperation to translate research findings into productivity. The two countries should promote the level of bilateral trade and investment, and hold the 11th meeting of China-Serbia joint economic and trade committee as soon as possible. Both countries should strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and expand cooperation in education, culture and tourism. Li Keqiang expressed his hope that the Serbian side provides more visa conveniences for Chinese tourists.

 

Li Keqiang said that China appreciates Serbia for its successful holding of the 3rd meeting of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC). All the participating countries universally hold that China-CEEC cooperation corresponds to the characteristics and needs of the development of the countries, conforms to the common wishes and interests of the countries and the people in the region, and also contributes to the comprehensive and balanced development of the China-Europe relationship. China is willing to work together with the CEEC including Serbia to keep making active efforts to advance China-CEEC cooperation and promote the overall development of the China-Europe relationship. China is also willing to continue inviting the European Union (EU) to send observers to attend the meeting so as to keep the openness and inclusiveness of China-CEEC cooperation.

 

Vučić said that Serbia has always been a reliable friend and partner of China and the two countries boast solid political mutual trust and broad cooperation prospects. Serbia feels proud of being a strategic partner of China and appreciates China for its long-term assistance and support. Serbiais ready to strengthen cooperation under the bilateral as well as the CEEC-China framework, and well implement the agreed consensus and cooperation agreements. Serbia is willing to accelerate the construction of the Hungary-Serbia Railway project with China and Hungary, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to expand their investment in Serbia. Serbia is ready to jointly develop the third-party market with China and promote the bilateral relations and CEEC-China cooperation for more achievements.

 

After the talks, the two Prime Ministers jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in such fields as economy, technology, energy, finance, aviation, and culture.

Prior to the talks, Vučić held a grand welcome ceremony for Li Keqiang at the square in front of the Serbian Building. The military band played the national anthems of the two countries, and Li Keqiang, accompanied by Vučić, inspected the guard of honor.
