On November 15, 2012, Song Tao, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Secretary-General of China-Central and Eastern Europe Cooperation Secretariat, met with leading officials of government tourism departments and envoys to China of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia, who are here to attend a China - Central and Eastern European countries tourism product promotion.Song said that tourism cooperation is an important area of China - Central and Eastern Europe cooperation. Expanding cooperation in tourism has not only important practical significance to promoting the economic development of China and Central and Eastern European countries, but also helps to enhance people-to-people friendship, expand cooperation in various fields and consolidate the social basis of the relations between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. China and Central and Eastern European countries are rich in tourism resources with great potential for cooperation. As the just-concluded 18th National Congress of the CPC has proposed the target of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the living standards of the Chinese people will continue to improve and more Chinese nationals will go abroad to understand the world. This will bring new opportunities for tourism cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries. Song believed through government guidance and business cooperation, China and Central and Eastern Europe cooperation in tourism will be able to achieve fruitful results.



Representatives of the Central and Eastern European countries praised China's efforts to promote tourism cooperation between both sides, stressing they attach importance to expansion of the Chinese market and are willing to enhance exchanges with Chinese businesses and develop specialty products to attract Chinese tourists. They believed that through joint efforts, China - Central and Eastern Europe cooperation in tourism will enjoy rapid development.
