On October 1, 2026, Kang Yan, Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia, attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the 15th Kranj International Festival of Visual Arts as the representative of the guest-of-honor country. Hundreds of outstanding works by 79 artists from 16 countries, including China, were on display.

Ambassador Kang said that diversity of civilizations is the defining feature of the world. Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), which calls on different civilizations to draw on one another’s strengths and shine together through equal treatment, mutual learning and mutual inspiration. This helps promote mutual understanding and affinity among peoples and jointly advance the development and progress of human civilization. This festival takes “Window” as its theme. May we appreciate and understand one another through the window of art, inspire each other and make common progress through exchanges and cooperation.

On the same day, Ambassador Kang met with Manja Zorko, Deputy Mayor of the City Municipality of Kranj, and the two sides discussed cooperation in such fields as culture, youth and sports.
