On 14 October 2026, Dai Qingli, Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria, attended the book donation event "Silk Road of Books" co-hosted by the Embassy and the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT). Over 200 people were present, including Dimitrova, Secretary for Culture and Education to the President of Bulgaria; Rector Petrova; Ivanova, Director of the National Library; directors of multiple libraries and cultural centers; representatives from all walks of life, teachers and students.

Ambassador Dai expressed the hope that Bulgarian readers will, through donated books including Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, How to Deepen Reform Comprehensively and Up and Out of Poverty, gain in-depth understanding of the stories of Chinese modernization, the self-reform of the Communist Party of China, and win-win development between China and the world. They may experience China’s governance practices and development achievements in the new era and grasp the code behind the success of China’s governance.

Bulgarian guests spoke highly of the Chinese books, noting they offer new opportunities for the two sides to deepen mutual understanding and exchanges. They expressed readiness to further promote bilateral cooperation across various sectors and exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations.
The Embassy donated more than 2,500 books to nearly 60 libraries and cultural centers across Bulgaria on this occasion.
