In the afternoon of December 18 local time, Premier Li Keqiang received the charter of honorary citizen of Belgrade at the City Assembly in Belgrade. Prime Minister Aleksandar Vu?i? of Serbia accompanied him.
Li Keqiang then held genial meetings and communication with celebrities from all circles of Serbia.
When Li Keqiang stepped into the meeting hall, over ten Serbian celebrities gathered around him and extended their warm welcome to the Chinese Premier. Among them were movie and television actors and football coaches familiar to the Chinese people as well as famous opera artists and sinologists who have made longtime study on China. Li Keqiang shook hands with each of them and had genial talks.
Ljubi?a Samard?i?, an actor in the movie "Walter Defends Sarajevo", presented his movie discs to Li Keqiang and hoped China will establish cultural exchange institutions in Serbia. Li Keqiang said that Samard?i?'s movie is widely known in China and reflects the appreciation and pursuit of peace. China and Serbia have reached the consensus of establishing a cultural center in Belgrade, which is expected to deepen the cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
Sinologists Mr. and Mrs. Pop-Cenic established the "Oriental Home" in Serbia 25 years ago, and they have actively carried out various activities to introduce the Chinese culture to the Serbian people. Li Keqiang thanked for their longtime efforts in promoting the Chinese culture and encouraged them to continue leading more Serbian people in learning Chinese and understanding China, thus becoming the envoy of bilateral friendship. Li Keqiang also presented Chinese books to the "Oriental Home" on behalf of the Chinese government.
When communicating with famous football coaches Bora Milutinovi?, Radosav Petrovi? and Ljubi?a Tumbakovi?, Li Keqiang said that Serbia has tremendous strength and numerous excellent players in competitive sports such as football and tennis, and the training and management experience is worth learning. I hope that the sports circle of the two countries strengthen exchanges, learn from each other and expand the friendly cooperation.
