On the eve of Croatia's snap parliamentary elections, CGTN Europe spoke with the Chinese ambassador in Zagreb, Qi Qianjin. During his interview, Qi focused on the trade turnover between the two countries, while at the same time praising their good political relationship.

With Chinese exports to Croatia significantly surpassing imports, the ambassador sees a role for the embassy in balancing the two.

"We try, me as an ambassador, and we as diplomats working in Croatia… we try to boost and increase imports from Croatia," Qi said. He said the tourist influx from China is one of the ways this balance can be achieved.
