On 25 September 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Greece hosted a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the China-Greece Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Fang Qiu, Chinese Ambassador to Greece, Dora Bakoyannis, Chair of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament, Haris Theoharis, Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, Ioannis Tragakis, Chair of the Greece-China Friendship Group in the Hellenic Parliament, and former Foreign Minister Georgios Katrougalos were present. Over 500 guests from all walks of Greek society attended the event.

In his remarks, Ambassador Fang reviewed the remarkable journey of hard-won achievements over the 77 years since the founding of New China. He noted that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has secured historic accomplishments in economic and social development. This year marks the launch of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. China is advancing Chinese modernization steadily through high-quality development, bringing sustained confidence and opportunities to the world.

Ambassador Fang stated that the 20 years since China and Greece established their comprehensive strategic partnership have set an exemplary model for countries with different systems and cultures to live in friendship and pursue win-win cooperation. China stands ready to carry forward the time-honored friendship with Greece and jointly write a new chapter in bilateral relations.
