The first freight train on the Beibu Gulf Port-Chengdu-Poland-Germany route departed on Sunday from the east station of the Qinzhou Port in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Loaded with 50 containers filled with 2,750 tonnes of home appliances and toys made by enterprises in south China's Guangdong Province, the train will connect with China-Europe freight trains in Chengdu of southwest China's Sichuan Province, and then head for Europe.

The distance between China's Qinzhou and Germany's Duisburg is around 12,000 kilometers. The whole journey will take roughly 25 days, saving 20 to 25 days compared with the direct shipping route from the neighbouring province of Guangdong to Europe.
