Ambassador Qi Qianjin Meets with State Secretary Andreja Metelko-Zgombić of Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs

On December 5, 2025, Qi Qianjin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Croatia, met with Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, State Secretary of Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Ambassador Qi stated that 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. He emphasized that both sides should uphold the positioning of their comprehensive strategic partnership and advance cooperation by adhering to open and pragmatic policies. He noted that addressing climate change and promoting the green transition constitute an important component of China–EU relations, and that the rich outcomes of China–Croatia cooperation in the green transition have set an example for China–EU relations.

State Secretary Zgombić said that Croatia and China, as well as the EU and China, share common interests in many areas and should jointly address global challenges such as climate change. She expressed the expectation that Croatia and China would strengthen cooperation in fields including trade, tourism, and electric vehicles.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
