Beijing, Aug. 31 (Xinhua). Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, met with Walter Rosenkranz, President of the National Council of Austria, in Beijing on the 31st.

Wang Huning said that in 2018, President Xi Jinping and President Van der Bellen, who was visiting China, jointly established the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations. The two sides should seize the opportunity of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties to implement the important consensus of the two leaders, enhance high-level exchanges, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and better benefit the two peoples. The CPPCC National Committee stands ready to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Austrian side and contribute to deepening China-Austria relations.

Rosenkranz said that both Austria and China have a long history and rich culture. Over the 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the two sides have adhered to mutual equality, and the friendship between the two countries has kept deepening. In recent years, high-level exchanges between Austria and China have been close, which is a positive signal of the in-depth development of bilateral relations. Austria adheres to the One-China policy and is ready to strengthen practical cooperation with China to push for new development in the Austria-China friendly strategic partnership.
