On 13 October, Ambassador Fang Qiu met with Semiramis Paliou, President of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA) and Chief Executive Officer of Diana Shipping Group.

Ambassador Fang stated that China is comprehensively advancing the building of a maritime power in line with its 15th Five-Year Plan, and continuously strengthening marine ecological protection and governance. Both China and Greece are major maritime and shipping nations with solid foundations and broad prospects for maritime cooperation. He expressed the hope that the two sides will, on the basis of cooperation in shipping and shipbuilding, further expand cooperation in marine ecological protection and emerging marine industries, and continuously enrich the connotations of the China-Greece Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Paliou spoke highly of China’s achievements in ocean governance and maritime development. She expressed readiness to strengthen exchanges with China, further build dialogue platforms, and jointly carry out cooperation in green shipping and marine conservation.
