On 14 October 2026, Kang Yan, Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia, met with Zakelj, Chair of the Parliamentary Group of the Nova Slovenija Party.

Ambassador Kang elaborated on the advancement of Chinese modernization and the 15th Five-Year Plan. She stated that China stands ready to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning on governance with Slovenia and share development opportunities of the times. She hoped that through bilateral channels and the China-CEEC Cooperation Mechanism, the two countries will drive greater progress in cooperation across all sectors.

Chair Zakelj expressed admiration for China’s rapid economic and social development. He noted that China and Slovenia boast complementary strengths and broad prospects for cooperation. He looked forward to the two sides continuing to tap into the potential and further expand practical cooperation.
