Recently, the “2026 China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation - Jiangsu Tour (Zhenjiang Stop)” was successfully held in Zhenjiang. This event was jointly organized by New Quality Productivity Centre of Jiangsu Province (Belt and Road Alliance for Collaborative Innovation & Technology Transfer), Jiangsu Science and Technology Exchange Center with Foreign Countries (JSTEC), Zhenjiang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and Jiangsu University (JSU).

The conference focused on fields such as smart agriculture and equipment, intelligent manufacturing, and energy conservation and environmental protection. The agenda included remarks by distinguished guests, cooperation case sharing, release of cooperation needs, and technical matchmaking sessions, aiming to establish a long-term platform for innovation cooperation and exchanges between Jiangsu and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. During the event, Zhenjiang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau presented the city’s science and technology innovation environment. Additionally, Jiangsu University and Jiangsu Lianbo Precision Technology Co., Ltd. shared cooperation cases, presenting paths and exemplary achievements in their collaborative efforts with CEE countries in scientific and technological innovation.

Demand Release and Precise Matchmaking. Bay Zoltán Research Centre and four other foreign institutions, alongside Jiangsu Hengshun Vinegar-Industry Co., Ltd. and four other Chinese enterprises, presented their research findings and technological and commercial needs on-site. Discussions between domestic and foreign representatives explored avenues for joint development of technologies and products related to green agricultural processing, thermal management systems for electric vehicles, and perovskite photovoltaic modules. Representatives from Zhenjiang’s science and technology investment promotion delegation also held business negotiations with visiting CEE enterprise delegates regarding industrial cooperation.

Foreign guests visited key sites such as Jiangsu University’s national-level science and technology innovation platforms, Jiangsu Hengshun Vinegar-Industry Co., Ltd.’s advanced smart factory, and its Vinegar Culture Museum, gaining firsthand insights into Zhenjiang’s scientific research infrastructure and unique industrial developments.

Over recent years, Zhenjiang has continually strengthened international technological collaborations, establishing over 10 international cooperation platforms and establishing regular cooperative relationships with 12 universities in CEE countries. Jiangsu University, a university based in Zhenjiang, initiated the “China-CEEC Industrial Innovation Alliance for Smart Agricultural Technology and Equipment”, leading to the establishment of the “Demonstration Center for Membrane Technology in Green Processing of Agricultural Products” and the “Smart Agriculture Demonstration Center” in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Milestones include the launch of Nongxin No. 1, China’s first agriculture-specific SoC based on the LoongArch architecture, and the Leisi Smart Agriculture Large Model, which have been applied in intelligent water and fertilizer control, smart farm construction, and intelligent detection of agricultural products. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for advancing cooperation with CEE countries.

A total of 120 representatives attended the conference, including representatives from government science and technology innovation departments, universities, research institutes, and enterprises of nine CEE countries—Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia as well as representatives from Zhenjiang’s government, industry, academia, and research sectors.
