On October 5, 2026, Chen Xufeng, Chinese Ambassador to Montenegro, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Budva bypass project. The event was attended by Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro, Radoš Zečević, Minister of Transport, Novica Vuković, Minister of Finance, and representatives of the project’s stakeholders.

The project has a timeline of four years, comprising one year of design and three years of construction. Chinese companies are building two interchanges under the project—Bridge No. 1 and Bridge No. 4. Upon completion, the project is expected to substantially improve traffic conditions in Budva.
