WARSAW, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese volleyball player Zhang Jingyin has said that he has learned a lot from his first Polish PlusLiga season.

Zhang, 23, recently returned to China to join his national teammates for the volleyball Nations League.

As the main outside hitter in the Chinese squad, Zhang is the first player from China to play in the PlusLiga. Since joining Trefl Gdansk last season, Zhang has scored a total of 105 points in 13 appearances.

"The Polish league is a high-level league. I can learn a lot by playing in Poland. When I played in Poland, the coaches and teammates extended special care to me. They supported me on the court, and they are like friends and family to me. They also taught me a lot of skills," Zhang said in a recent interview with Xinhua.

"When I return to China, some of Poland's most advanced styles of play, some techniques and tactics can also be used. I also learned how to present my best state in the game, in terms of mentality," he said, summing up his first overseas journey.

"I hope that my teammates and other Chinese players can also join and play in high-level leagues like the Polish league," he said.

In a match in March this year, Zhang Jingyin delivered six aces in a single game, out of his 24 points, and six blocks. He was elected the most valuable player (MVP) of the game.

Zhang believes that his most significant improvement is his serve. "Since I came to Poland, the coach wants me to serve more aggressively," he said.

Deeply impressed by the warmth of the volleyball atmosphere and fans in Poland, Zhang also said that he cherishes the opportunity to play in the Polish league very much.

"I'm quite satisfied with my performance in the PlusLiga. But I was still not doing well enough in some of my technical details," the athlete said.

In the latest ranking of the International Volleyball Federation, the Polish men's volleyball team ranks first. The Polish Men's Volleyball League is also the world's top volleyball league, with a total of 16 teams participating.

"When I played here, the fans were very supportive of the players and the club. Whether we won or lost, they encouraged us and cared about us. Poland is a beautiful country. The Polish volleyball league is very good. I still hope to come back to Poland if I have the opportunity in the future," Zhang said. Enditem
