China and Albania stand ready to work hard to tap into the potential of cooperation in all fields as Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Albanian President Ilir Meta on Friday, in a tour involving four European countries and Qatar.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Albania said it would firmly adhere to the one-China policy and look forward to strengthening cooperation with China.
The parties discussed the history of China-Albania relations, including Albania's efforts to aid China in getting its representation in the United Nations (UN) fifty years ago.
Meta said, Albania is proud of its support for China's restoration of its lawful seat in the UN and will never forget China's assistance to Albania's economic development and modernization drive.
Wang said that China is willing to expand the export of high-quality Albanian products to China and encourage Chinese companies to invest in Albania.
The statement of the Chinese foreign ministry said the two sides were willing to work hard to tap into the potential of cooperation in investment, tourism and other fields.
During his visit to Albania, Wang Yi also met with Prime Minister Edi Rama and Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka.
In talks with Rama, Wang said China supports the "double-engine" driving effect of cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries as well as China-Europe cooperation to help CEE countries achieve greater development.
Rama said that Albania supports cooperation between China and CEE countries and is willing to work together to transform the cooperation potential into tangible results, adding Albania welcomes more Chinese companies to invest in the country.
Wang Yi has flown on to Italy for the G20 summit, the first in-person gathering of leaders of the world's biggest economies since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
