On August 21, 2026, a seminar titled “China-Visegrád Group (V4) Relations: Pathways Forward” was held in Slovakia, with Chinese Ambassador to Slovakia Cai Ge attending and delivering a keynote address. The event was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Slovak Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Budget Ján Karas, Advisor to the Slovak Prime Minister Matej Bekmatov, as well as more than 50 representatives from governments, universities, think tanks, and the business community in China and the V4 countries (Poland, Hungary, Czechia, and Slovakia).

In his remarks, Ambassador Cai noted that during China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030), the country will continue to expand institutional opening-up, promote high-quality development, and unleash the dividends of its market, innovation, and business environment. These efforts will bring vast opportunities for cooperation with the V4 countries. He emphasized China’s willingness to actively explore the “China+V4” cooperation model, with a particular focus on aligning development strategies and exploring collaboration potential in green and low-carbon initiatives, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy.

The seminar was co-hosted by the Fudan University Center for China-Europe Relations(CCER) and the Slovak think tank “Institute of Analysis, Strategies and Alternatives”（IASA）. Scholars at the event held in-depth discussions on the development of the V4 countries, their relations with China, and prospects for pragmatic cooperation.
