On September 16, 2026, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Croatia hosted a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Qi Qianjin, Ambassador of the PRC to the Republic of Croatia, and Željko Reiner, Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament representing the Speaker, attended and delivered remarks. Also present were some 500 guests, including Sabina Glasovac, Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament; Mihotić, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure; Peličarić, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Croatia; Korlaet, Deputy Mayor of Zagreb; other Croatian dignitaries, public figures, diplomatic envoys accredited to Croatia, and representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas Chinese in Croatia.

In his remarks, Ambassador Qi reviewed China’s development achievements over the past 77 years, elaborated on the important concepts and propositions put forward by President Xi Jinping, and explained that China stays committed to a path of peaceful, open and green development. He stressed that China is an important force safeguarding world peace and advancing global development and prosperity.

Tonka, Croatia’s first humanoid robot built on the Unitree Robotics G1 platform, served as interpreter during the Ambassador’s speech and gave dance and kung fu performances. The event was filled with a festive atmosphere, and guests spoke highly of China’s achievements in scientific and technological innovation and national development.
