On the afternoon of November 28, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary at Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest.
Li Keqiang expressed that China and Hungary enjoy a long-lasting friendship and bilateral relations share a solid foundation. China views Hungary as an important cooperative partner in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), a good friend in the European Union, and a good partner with which China can carry out close communication and coordination in international affairs. This May, President Xi Jinping met with Mr. Prime Minister during your visit to China. Bilateral relations have been lifted to a comprehensive strategic partnership. China is willing to continuously deepen bilateral relations with Hungary on the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment, so as to elevate China-Hungary traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation to a new level.
Li Keqiang noted that China is willing to better integrate the Belt and Road Initiative with development strategies of Hungary, expand the scale of bilateral economy, trade and investment, enhance cooperation in key areas including infrastructure construction and further promote regional connectivity. China will encourage more competent Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Hungary and expects that the Hungarian side will provide more convenience. China is also willing to import more competitive products from Hungary, and strengthen financial cooperation so as to make Hungary a major base for China-CEE financial cooperation. China supports both sides to expand cooperation in tourism and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in civil aviation, education and other fields.
Li Keqiang congratulated Hungary on successfully holding the 6th Summit of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC), and stressed that the "16+1 cooperation" has not only boosted mutually beneficial cooperation between China and CEEC as well as between China and European countries, but also been conducive to regional stability and world peace. China is willing to implement the Budapest Guidelines for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries and other outcome documents with CEEC, including Hungary, in a bid to inject new impetus to the "16+1 cooperation" as well as facilitate the development of China-EU relations and cooperation.
Viktor Orban expressed that Hungary and China enjoy fairly sound political relations and fruitful outcomes from bilateral cooperation, which could be called a success story in Hungary's foreign relations. Hungary stands ready to actively push the construction of such major projects as the Budapest-Belgrade railway, improve the level of bilateral economy and trade, and strengthen cooperation in such fields as finance, education and tourism. Hungary welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the country and will continuously push forward CEEC-China cooperation for more outcomes.
After the talks, Li Keqiang and Viktor Orban jointly witnessed the signing of 11 bilateral cooperation documents covering such areas as politics, economy and trade, finance and people-to-people and cultural engagement. Chinese Premier and Hungarian Prime Minister also received the Hungarian-Chinese dictionary presented by Hungarian sinologists.
Before the talks, Viktor Orban held a grand welcoming ceremony for Li Keqiang at the square where Hungarian Parliament stands. The national flags of both countries fluttered in the wind. The military band played the national anthems of the two countries. Accompanied by Viktor Orban, Li Keqiang reviewed the guard of honor. Afterwards, Chinese Premier and Hungarian Prime Minister watched the march-past of the guard of honor and cavalry as well as the marching performance of the military band.
