Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary Jointly Meet the Press
Ministy of Foreign Affairs of China
2017/12/12

On the afternoon of November 28, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary jointly met the press after their talks at Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest.

Li Keqiang expressed that my visit to Hungary this time is not only for China-Hungary friendship, but also for the promotion of cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC). The "16+1 cooperation" was originated from the first China-CEEC Business Forum held in Budapest six years ago. Five years after the launching of this mechanism, we gathered in Budapest again to summarize outcomes and look into the future, which comes just at the right time and the right place. Five years of practice shows that the "16+1 cooperation" has benefited both countries as well as the world. The trans-regional cooperation has narrowed the psychological distance between people at the two ends of the Eurasia, and offset the imbalanced development in globalization process. The "16+1 cooperation" is conducive to promoting the sound development of globalization, to the comprehensive development of Europe and the European integration process, and to safeguarding regional stability and world peace.

Li Keqiang pointed out that at present, the economy of China and Hungary has maintained a sound growth momentum, and the development of both countries has provided opportunities to each other. China is willing to import more Hungarian products with market competitiveness, characteristics and high quality, continue considering Hungary as an important investment destination in Central and Eastern Europe, expand cooperation in such areas as tourism and education, and promote mutual understanding and bilateral exchanges between the two peoples.

Viktor Orban expressed that he and Premier Li Keqiang held sound and practical talks, during which both sides reached a series of important consensus on advancing Hungary-China cooperation. Hungary-China relations enjoy a solid foundation and bilateral cooperation enjoys great potential. It is believed that Premier Li Keqiang's visit this time will open up new prospects for bilateral relations. The Hungarian side hopes to seize the opportunity brought by China's development to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields with China. The country stands ready to further enhance bilateral cooperation within the "16+1 cooperation" framework, so as to contribute to the development of the region and the world at large.
